Dr. Wuerz passed from this life on October 6, 2000. Dr. Wuerz achieved national recognition for the development of a new system for triaging ED patients, which used an innovative scoring system that he invented. It was this patient scoring system that earned him the prestigious Ester B. Kahn Fellowship Award in Emergency Medicine. As a physician, he served two institutions on the East Coast, first Penn State’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and then Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
The Chapter is proud to name the Scientific Assembly CPC Competition in memory of this distinguished scholar, researcher, and highly skilled emergency physician.
