PaACEP Past Presidents
Marilyn Heine, MD, FACEP, Elected Medical Society VP
PaACEP Past President (2004-2005) Marilyn J. Heine, MD, FACEP, was elected by delegates attending the October 24-25 Pennsylvania Medical Society House of Delegates meeting to serve as vice president for the upcoming year. Dr. Heine will serve one year as vice president, followed by one year as president-elect. She will then serve as president from October 2011 to October 2012.
In addition to her involvement with the Pennsylvania Medical Society, Dr. Heine has served as the president of PaACEP as well as the Bucks County Medical Society. She is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), and serves on the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s delegation to the AMA House of Delegates.
Dr. Heine will be the first emergency physician to serve in this leadership position. The Medical Society was founded in 1848.
Bruce MacLeod, MD, FACEP, Completes Term as Medical Society’s Board Chair
PaACEP Past President (2002-2003) Bruce MacLeod, MD, FACEP, completed his three-year term of service as chairman of the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s Board of Trustees.
Dr. MacLeod has been a member of the Medical Society’s board of trustees since 2003, when he was elected as a hospital-based specialty trustee representing emergency medicine, radiology, anesthesiology, and pathology. As chairman of the board, he organized and ran the board’s regularly scheduled meetings and business. He was also a member of the Society’s Executive Committee.
In this position, Dr. MacLeod was able to raise awareness at the Pennsylvania Medical Society about the issues affecting emergency medicine.
Dr. MacLeod, who is chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at UPMC Mercy of Pittsburgh, currently serves as an ex-officio member on the PaACEP board and he just completed his service as the ACEP Council speaker.
