Scientific Assembly 2012: Advances, Controversies and Technology

                                                   


We are pleased to provide our members with the highest level of education you’ve come to expect from PaACEP for nearly 40 years.

Outstanding faculty from Pennsylvania and nationally recognized speakers will share their knowledge and expertise to present clinical topics that address the issues that every emergency physician faces. There is no better way to earn CME, and, at the same time, interact with chapter leadership and network with fellow colleagues.

Target Audience
Physicians and residents in Pennsylvania and surrounding states who are practicing emergency medicine or are involved in the training of emergency medicine residents. This program is also intended for physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and medical students involved or interested in emergency medicine.

Course materials are provided at the discretion of the faculty. Handouts will not be distributed on site. Membership Meetings
PaACEP members are also invited to attend the chapter’s Member Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, April 17 at 5:45 p.m. and Annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, April 18 at 12:15 p.m.  During the Tuesday dinner meeting, winners of the CPC and Spivey competitions will be announced, as well as the recipients of the Meritorious and Physician of the Year awards.  During the Wednesday luncheon, members will receive an update on chapter projects and programs, learn the results of the board of directors’ election, hear the financial report and the president’s address.   

Gettysburg National Military Park
The meeting in Gettysburg will provide you and your family with the opportunity to explore the site of a pivotal Civil War battle.  In addition, all PaACEP members who pay the assembly registration fee will receive a complimentary ticket to tour the park’s new Museum and Visitor Center with one-of-a-kind artifacts and interactive exhibits, see the film “A New Birth of Freedom,” and experience the beautifully restored Cyclorama painting, which brings Pickett’s Charge to life.  In addition, Pennsylvania’s own, and nationally acclaimed speaker, Joseph Lex, MD, FACEP, will present a lecture on the assassination of President Lincoln.

Weather and Attire
In April, the average daytime high temperature is 64 degrees.  The nighttime average is in the mid-40s. Attire for this meeting is business casual. Every attempt will be made to keep meeting rooms at a comfortable temperature, but a jacket or sweater is recommended.
