Obama and McCain - Summary of Health Care Proposals

Although ACEP and PaACEP do not formally endorse or support presidential candidates, we are closely monitoring their positions on health care issues and their attention to the crisis in emergency medical care.  As the Obama and McCain campaigns travel across the country and in the upcoming debates, we expect their distinctive health care reform proposals will be discussed and considered by voters and health care stakeholders alike.  ACEP has provided a side-by-side comparison of the candidates’ health care proposals and talking points. As you know, Pennsylvania is a must win state and both candidates will be spending a lot of time here. If you have a chance, plan to attend a political event and if possible find out if they are aware of the boarding/crowding crisis in our emergency departments, and what they would do to improve the emergency health care delivery system.  In this historic election year where presidential and congressional candidates are making health care reform a top priority, it is important for us to keep the crisis in emergency care front and center and be able to provide concrete solutions for inclusion in any health care reform discussions and legislation that moves next year.  (Member log-in required for access to comparison and talking points)
