Ellwood City Hospital

A small community hospital located in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania, approximately 40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh (consistently highly rated in the Places Rated Almanac).
The Emergency Department is seeking a full-time emergency physician beginning May 1, when our substantial expansion and renovation will be completed. The ED sees an annual volume of about 14,000 (average 40/ 24 hours or 1.6 patients /hour) with a low incidence of major trauma. Shifts are 12 hours with the option for some 24 hour shifts.
Physicians work as independent contractors for the contract holder, Ellwood Emergency Physicians, Inc. Compensation, starting at $105/hour, includes paid malpractice insurance (claims-made with tail). Preferred candidates will be residency trained in EM and/or ABEM certified, OR residency trained and board certified in Family Practice or Internal Medicine with ACLS, ATLS, PALS certifications and a minimum of 2 years of full-time ED experience. Other candidates’ qualifications will be considered, but must include, as a minimum, the ACLS, ATLS and PALS certifications and 2 years full-time ED experience.

(ERMI) Paul Paris Chair in Emergency Medicine Quality offers an outstanding opportunity to lead quality initiatives for a large group of emergency medicine physicians who are part of the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). The Chair was established to further ERMI’s commitment to emergency medicine quality and risk management.
ERMI manages physician services for 15 community-based emergency departments in western Pennsylvania, works closely with the University of Pittsburgh Affiliated Residency in Emergency Medicine, provides medical directorship for numerous EMS agencies throughout the region, and has access to the resources of UPMC. Currently seeking a BC/BE Emergency Physician to join our 15 member hospital-based group because of expanding coverage. Saint Vincent Health Center is a 436-bed tertiary care hospital with yearly ED patient volumes of 32,000, with 55 hours of physician coverage daily plus 6 hours of midlevel coverage. A separate fast track evaluates an additional 32,000 patients. Physicians currently see less than 2 patients per hour. Osteopathic Emergency Medicine Residency established in 2004. Very involved in EMS and disaster and emergency management. Majority of physicians have at least 10 years ED experience. Excellent compensation/incentive package with full benefits.
